Anthropologie Inspired Desk

I was inspired by this beautiful Flamenco Shower Curtain by Anthropologie.

Can you believe I got this awesome desk off of craigslist for FREE!
I painted the desk with some Behr sample colors from Home Depot.
I used Pear, Fairway Mist, Reef Green, & Majestic Mint.
I put on a clear coat of clear wax to seal.

My little birdie got a fresh white makeover with white high gloss spray paint.
I also used this on the drawer pulls.

Never in a million years could i get my 3yr and 2yr old
to pose like this for "real" shot of them.  As I was snapping pics of the
desk  Lola crawled over and was touching my freshly painted bird.
After all that I forgot to put my cute little bird in the first
few pics.  Em is soo much better at staging than I am.
This is really all I had to work with.
The desk is very solid and HEAVY,
so I couldn't move it anywhere else myself.
Of course the coloring was more true
in the pics without the bird.  I had to repaint the bird.
After all that the sun was shining and, the best pic I had was with the kids.
Don't look to close.  I had to photo shoot them out of the best pic!
  Happy FRIDAY!!

P.O.S. to a Fabulous Mini Bar

We jokingly referred to this eyesore as the P.O.S. table.
My friend picked it up at a garage sale for me for $3.
Gotta love it when your friends start treasure hunting for you!

The piece was solid, but covered in some type of plastic tortoise patterned veneer. UGLY!

The top was in horrible shape, and someone had actually recovered the chipped drawers in
another layer of brown sticky plastic!  But...I still saw the beauty and potential.  Nothing scares us.
I bought these 5 tiles at Menard's for $1.98 a piece.  I used a special grout & glue combo on them.
I put the marble tiles as close together as possible and filled in the grout with the glue.
I had to move the top trim piece up to cover the side of the tile.
I painted the piece in the color "Lamb's Wool".  I sanded and distressed.
I then glazed with Ralph Lauren Glaze tinted with" Expresso Bean".

I used some extra Pottery Barn Drawer Pulls I already had for the drawers,
and just painted the bottom door pulls..  I also added trim to the
top drawers to cover the chips and holes.

Even my kids commented and asked if that was the same table.
For me that is saying something if you can impress a 10yr old boy with a furniture redo!!

DIY Party Pic Board

Our friends were having a surprise 40th Bday Party with a camping/fishing theme.
My friend asked if I would paint a board for us to take party pics like at a carnival.
These pics were my inspiration.

This is what I started with.  I sketched and painted.
Here is how it turned out.

We cut some holes and it was ready for some
happy faces.  Fun was had by all, and most pictures
ended up being too risque for our blog.

Here is the birthday boy!!
I think you could paint absolutely anything for all ages
 with any theme, and
you would get some fun pictures.

Just Paint It!

I had absolutely no budget, but despised my 80's bathroom.
It was soo outdated I just couldnt take it any longer.
 So I just painted EVERYTHING!!!
See my faucets remember when I spray painted them HERE
They still look great.
I made the shower curtain with drop cloth and scraps that I had on hand.
I just added  few rows of ruffles.
Basically this makeover only cost me $20 for the countertop paint.
All of the other paint and fabric, and wood was from other projects.

I painted over the tile with Country Grey Chalk Paint and the waxed with clear wax.
I painted the mirror with old white chalk paint, distressed and waxed.
I painted the countertops with Rustoleum's Countertop Paint. AWESOME!
FYI -Apply with a small foam roller!!
The color was "earth".  It is awesome, but smelly.  I have already painted
the neon green/lime countertops is the laundry room.
Remember that ugly room.  See it here.
I will have another reveal ASAP.  The countertops were holding me up!

I painted the walls and ceiling with "old Salem Grey".

I painted the cabinents with "provence" chalk paint.  I then disressed and used clear wax.

I left these doors off to open up the space and give me a ploace for some personal touches.

I spray painted all the hardware with oil rubbed bronze.

Here is a sign i made too.  The lighting is bad so I will post some better pics tomorrow.

The room has a fresh new look, and a little bit of a beachy feel.
I love how it turned out.
