Nightstand Makeover

I got this great little table at a garage sale for $2.
2 is my lucky number.
If any piece of furniture is marked $2
I am going to buy it!!! Guaranteed.
Its almost becoming a joke.
We are starting to get some strange looks at sales
when we burst into laughter when something is marked $2.
Em found this table.  Sooo...if I can't remember the price
I pretty much blog that it was $2.

It was solid wood, old, and DUSTY!!
I painted it grey.  I actually bought the
Benjamin Moore Paint at a garage sale for 50 cents.

I sketched on a flower and used a font from word.
I used the old rub and trace.

I just spray painted the handle white.

DIY Towel Wrap

I recently participated in the pattern remix at Me Sew Crazy
In case you missed it here was my project.
We were asked to do a "pattern remix" of any pattern.
  I found mine at @ Sew4Home
Its a super cute towel wrap.
I actually got to kill 2 birds with one stone on this project.
I needed a graduation gift for my cousin, and a great
blog project.

Here is what you need.
1 yard of terry cloth
16-20 in. of non-roll elastic
velcro
scrap fabric

The original post used 8" binding.
It also had a pocket and shoulder straps.
Here is the pattern pic that I based mine off of.

I used a ruffle instead of binding and no shoulder strap.

You start by placing the elastic in the back so you get a snug fit.
See the original post HERE for directions.
The only thing I modified was that I serged the edge of my towel
and only folded over once.  I didn't want the thickness of a double fold.
I then made my ruffle that I used instead of the binding.

I used a strip that was 88 in. by 2.5.  I folded in half and sewed
with a basting stitch so that I could gather for my ruffle.
I pinned and sewed in place.

I repeated with terry cloth for the bottom edge.

I also added velco on the top like in the original post.  See pictured below.

I added a monogram. I used my embroidery machine, but you could easily use a
silhoutte or print a letter from your computer and applique.

DIY Grad Gifts and MORE Signs

I was inspired by this darling pouch for my lastest project.
Its a gift for my cousin that recently graduated from 8th Grade.

Here is what you need to get started.

I sewed on my bunting pieces on the cover piece.
Sew your sleeves with the added pockets and turn them right side.
Top stich along side edges of sleeves and place on top of back piece.
Pin your sleeves to back piece and then place right sides together
Sew along edges and leave a small opening to flip right side.

Sew close your opening and slide over your notebook.

I sewed in a rubber band and added a button for closure.
I also added her name to the bunting.

Here is another Sign that Em just did!!!

She also turned this garage sale find into a cool gift for the grad too!

Dresser: Trash to Treasure!!

I got this dresser for $2.   It was in decent shape, but was a total eye sore!!  OUCH!
I was inspired by this anthropologie piece.  Amy and I are on a numbers kick too.

The drawers all worked, but they just needed some lovin!!
They were also missing some hardware.  I just used some old cabinet door
handles I had and painted them too.

I painted it white.
I also covered the top with vintage race car wrapping paper. I then topped it with
Pour-On Epoxy Finish Is Equal To 60 Coats Of Varnish And Provides A Gorgeous High Gloss Appearance like it did HERE and HERE.  I created my own 1/8 in lip when I added the trim to the top
to hold the epoxy.  I put a strip of masking tape on the back to hold it in as well.

I added a beautiful piece of trim that I got at a yard sale for $1 to the top and bottom.
It also covered the missing veneer at the bottom too!

I also thought the numbers were appropriate with the race car theme going too.

I will be listing on craigslist later today.
