Pineapple Table Redo: Before and After

I saw a awesome pineapple at the Paramount Antique Mall that I posted about yesterday.  That inspired this table.

I found the Pineapple Stencil in the back of "Do it Yourself" Magazine from September 2010.  I tried to see if they had a download of the stencil, but they didn't.  So if you would like a copy to make to own stencil then shoot me an email.  I blew it up a little and traced onto freezer paper.

I love freezer paper.  Did you know it works on wood too.  I cut out my stencil and ironed right onto the table top.  Make sure your get the edges GOOD!  I didn't and had a little bit of bleed through.

I peels off great too.

I started by staining the pineapple with a black stain.  I got so excited to see my end result I took off the freezer paper and forgot to take a pic.  The pineapple looked awesome.  I could see it perfectly.  I then was so excited I put on a coat of stain on the table top I forgot to take a pic.  It was a dark brown by minwax called Dark Walnut.  Guess what....by pineapple disappeared.  The table was so dry it just soaked up all the brown.  I could barely see my pineapple.  Plan B.  I could still see the pineapple so I painted with a yellow mistint that I bought.  I love mistints.  THEY ARE CHEAP!

Here is my glowing pinapple.

I toned it down by rubbing the stain over it.

My son got too tired staying up waiting for mom!

I painted the base of the table "creamy" by sherwin williams.  This is the only pic I have before I put stain over it.

Base of table after I rubbed stain over it.

Close up of Table Top.  I love how it turned out.

Have a great weekend!
